Mérida and its surroundings J+60/61/62

Nous arrivons à Mérida : une petite ville de la région de Yucatan. Nos hôtes sont Estefania et son mari Sergio, et quels hôtes. Estefania est même venue nous chercher à l’aéroport à notre arrivée! Nous commençons par découvrir la gastronomie de la région de Yucatan avec un poulet Pibil et un Poc Chuc pour faire ensuite un petit tour au centre-ville et finir par une bonne glace à la Chaya. Il s’agit d’une plante utilisée pour faire des glaces mais aussi des boissons très rafraichissantes. Nous terminons la journée à la fête foraine où nous emmènent Estefania et Sergio. Au programme, sensations fortes dans les manèges, précision au tir à la carabine et saveurs piquantes de la bière au chili.

Le deuxième jour c’est visite d’un cenote. Il s’agit d’une grotte ou cavité remplie d’eau douce où l’on peut se baigner. C’est un endroit splendide où la faune et la flore se mêle avec magie. Après avoir déjeuné, on visite le musée du chocolat et on découvre un peu plus les rituels mayas.

Le troisième jour, direction la plage de Progresso pour profiter un peu du soleil. Puis, en fin d’après-midi, on découvre un autre cenote ouvert cette fois-ci. C’est une autre ambiance mais toujours aussi agréable et envoutante.

We arrive in Mérida: a small town in the region of Yucatan. Our hosts are Estefania and her husband Sergio, and what great hosts. Estefania even come pick us up at the airport when we arrived! We begin by discovering the gastronomy of the region of Yucatan with a chicken Pibil and Poc Chuc, then we did a little tour in the city center and finish it with a good ice-cream at the Chaya. It is a plant used to make ice creams but also very refreshing drinks. We ended the day at the carnival where Estefania and Sergio bring us. On the program thrills in the rides, precision shooting with rifle and prickly flavors of beer with chili.

The second day we visited a cenote. This is a cave or cavity filled with non-salted water where you can swim most of time. It is a splendid place where the fauna and flora mix with magic. After lunch, we visited the museum of chocolate and we discovered a little more about the Mayan rituals.

On the third day, we went to the beach of Progresso to enjoy a bit of the sun. At the end of the afternoon we discovered another open cenote this time. It is another atmosphere but always so pleasant and enchanting.
