Bus until Guatemala city J+75

10h du mat’ et nous voilà partis pour 10h de bus… Après avoir comparé les prix de quelques lignes de bus nous sommes partis avec la compagnie la moins chère que nous avons trouvée : Linea Dorada. Nous allons vite comprendre pourquoi… Après seulement 2h de route nous voilà arrêté sur le bord de la route pour cause de surchauffe moteur. Le bus perdait apparemment du liquide de refroidissement et les conducteurs essayaient de remettre de l’eau dans le radiateur. Après une heure et demie d’attente et d’innombrables coups de fil au mécano de la compagnie, nous voilà reparti pour une heure de route et un changement de bus à Rio Dulce.

Au final, après 14h de route nous arrivons à Guatemala city en pleine nuit et nous n’avons pas pu réserver de nuit car nous n’avions pas de WIFI. Grace à notre guide papier, nous savions qu’il y avait une auberge de jeunesse à 500m mais nous n’étions pas vraiment tranquilles lorsque nous nous sommes nrendus à pied là-bas (sachant que Guatemala city est la capitale du meurtre). On a finalement trouvé deux lits et on s’est couché épuisé.

At 10am we left for 10h bus ... After comparing the price of a few bus lines we decided to take the cheapest company we found: Linea Dorada. We will soon understand why they were the cheapest ... After only 2h of driving we had to stop on the side of the road because of an overheating engine. The bus was apparently losing coolant and the drivers were trying to get water back into the radiator. After an hour and a half of waiting and countless phone calls to the company's mechanic, we went back in the bus and drove for an hour to Rio Dulce where we changed of bus.

At the end, after 14h drive we arrived in Guatemala City at night but we were not able to book a place for the night since we did not have WIFI. Nevertheless, thanks to our paper guide, we knew that there was a hostel at 500m but we did not really feel safe when we walked there (knowing that Guatemala City is the capital of the murder). We finally found two beds and went to bed exhausted.
