Bundaberg à Airlie Beach J+261/262

Thomas a bien roulé hier soir mais il nous reste encore pas mal de route. Nous faisons tout de même escale à Bundaberg ce matin pour visiter la distillerie de rhum la plus célèbre de la côte Est voir d’Australie. Cette rhumerie a quand même obtenue le prix du meilleur rhum du monde en 2015 ce n’est pas rien. La visite commence par un petit tour dans le musée où l’on apprend l’histoire de cette fabrique vielle de presque 130 ans. La deuxième partie est consacrée au tour guidé dans l’enceinte même de la distillerie. Nous faisons le tour des cuves de mélasse et de rhum en préparation. Nous terminons par une petite dégustation du rhum et des liqueurs de la maison. Le rhum est bon mais relativement cher. En revanche, les liqueurs sont moins chères et nous avons un coup de cœur pour la saveur caramel salé. C’est vraiment délicieux, nous vous la recommandons. Je ne fais que tremper mes lèvres car dès cet après-midi je reprends la route. J’ai bien roulé et Thomas prend le relais à Rockhampton après une bonne douche. Nous suivions un camion quand celui-ci nous projette un caillou qui finit sa course sur notre pare-brise lui laissant une belle fissure sur la partie haute vers le rétroviseur mais ça, on ne s’en rend compte que le lendemain matin. Il va falloir passer à la caisse pour changer le pare-brise. Mais bon, on se dit que cela fait partie de l’aventure.

Aujourd’hui on ne traine pas car on doit impérativement arriver à Airlie Beach pour réserver notre petite croisière dans les Whitsundays islands. On arrive en fin de matinée et après quelques comparaisons, nous optons pour un séjour de deux jours et une nuit sur un voilier. Nous nous reposons de tous les kilomètres effectués après le déjeuner et commençons à préparer nos sacs pour le lendemain.

Thomas rode well last night but we still have a lot of road. We still make a stopover in Bundaberg this morning to visit the most famous rum distillery on the east coast of Australia. The second part is devoted to the guided tour within the precincts of the distillery. We go round the molasses and rum tanks in preparation. We finish with a small tasting of the rum and liqueurs of the house. The rum is good but relatively expensive. On the other hand, the liqueurs are cheaper and we have a favorite for the salted caramel flavor. It is really delicious, we recommend it. I only soak my lips because from this afternoon I resume the road. I rode well and Thomas takes over in Rockhampton after a good shower. We followed a truck when it projected a pebble that finished its race on our windscreen leaving a beautiful crack on the upper part towards the rearview mirror but that, one realizes it only the next morning. It will be necessary to go to the box to change the windscreen. But hey, we think this is part of the adventure.

Today we do not hesitate because we must imperatively arrive at Airlie Beach to book our little cruise in the Whitsundays islands. We arrive at the end of the morning and after a few comparisons, we opt for a stay of two days and one night on a sailboat. We rest every mile after lunch and start preparing our bags for the next day.
